the world's most threatened terrestrial birds

why protect bustards

Bustards, facing severe threats from habitat loss, hunting, and environmental changes, are critical indicators of sustainable landscapes. Conserving these iconic birds helps protect numerous grass- and shrubland species and supports a healthy human food supply.

Join a united effort to implement effective conservation strategies and ensure the survival of bustards worldwide.

Bustards are iconic landbirds that need more protection across their range in Africa, Eurasia and Australia. The development of an international multi-species action plan for bustards will be an important step in this direction. It will be the first multi-species approach under the African-Eurasian Migratory Landbird Action Plan (AEMLAP). The AEMLAP Working Group warmly welcomes this initiative and fully supports its promotion and implementation within its means.
